Arthur Terry School in Sutton Coldfield has successfully completed the first Young Leaders Academy, an exciting high-profile initiative that encourages students to improve their personal and professional development. Mark Tonks, Business Development Manager with Leadership Management® UK, guided ten Year 12 students through the Academy aimed at students who demonstrated leadership qualities and a desire to further their personal growth.
The programme, endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management, aims to inspire students to embrace leadership, develop transferable skills, improve their natural ability, and provide invaluable experience. Each student was assigned a local business sponsor who also acted as a mentor offering encouragement and support. The students all commented that this experience provided them with valuable insight to the business community and commerce.
The Academy also include a two-day Outward Bound exercise at the mid-term point of the programme. "I firmly believe that this programme helps guide students through a pivotal couple of years in their lives." explained Mark. "I am also convinced that having the support of the school, their parents, a sponsor/mentor, and our programme helped the students achieve ambitious goals and significant personal development."
