Martin Rhodes

Martin joined LMI-UK after a successful career as an Officer in the Royal Navy. With nearly 2000 hours as a Helicopter mission commander he has operated in the Med, the Gulf, the North and South Atlantic as well as the UK waters. His last flying role was as a Search and Rescue Officer for which he received a Queen's Commendation for Bravery in the Air.
His career has placed him in several leadership roles in both the military and civilian arena.
As an Aircraft Commander he led Anti-submarine warfare operations, with a variety of ships and aircraft under his control.
He was the Detachment Commander for the Foot and Mouth Crisis in the South West receiving a commendation for his leadership.
Subsequently Martin represented the UK MOD as the Head of Delegation for a number of communications and research programmes.
Having left the Royal Navy in 2009, he joined a small defence consultancy as a Management Board member and training manager exploiting his MBA and building upon his commercial experience in the acquisition of defence systems.
Martin thrives on getting the best performance out of people, and feeds this passion by teaching and training in sailing, rock climbing and the martial arts as well as continuing to serve his country as a Royal Naval Reservist.
“Leadership is helping people to be the best they can be, building on their strengths, giving them a vision that they can believe in and then getting out of the way!”
