Colin
Stead has been the Managing Director of F Peart and Co Ltd since
2001. He was first introduced to Leadership Management UK®
when he visited the LMI-UK stand at an exhibition in March 2005.
Following a meeting with Neale Carter a few weeks later, Colin started
an Effective Personal
Leadership 15 programme ®.
“I had always believed that I was fairly well-organised and had a healthy attitude toward both business and personal life". Explained Colin. “I knew that I could probably benefit from management development training but thought that a four day seminar at a hotel might do the trick. I could not have been more wrong.”
Colin realised almost immediately that the programme was going to be a life-changing experience. “I know it sounds like a cliché but everything in my life has been transformed. Once I began working through the programme with Neale I realised how much more effective and efficient I could be.”
As Colin continued his leadership development he began to build a Mission Statement, Values, a Wish List, he planned goals and targets. “Since completing the programme I have run a marathon, a lifetime ambition. I have a passion for watches so set myself a business goal that, once achieved, I could reward myself with a Rolex and I have finally got round to learning another language. ” Colin now describes himself as being a confident risk-taker who welcomes challenges and tackles them head-on.
As soon as Colin could see how the programme was beginning to make a positive impact on his work and home life he signed up other members of the management team. “Two senior managers have finished Effective Personal Productivity ®programmes and a further five middle managers are nearing completion. The results are outstanding. Our staff have become highly motivated and extremely efficient. One manager has been able to identify low pay-off activities so effectively that he has saved himself one full day’s work per week.”
When Colin was appointed as MD F Peart and Co were turning over £4m a year but were not profitable. Today they are turning over £10m and their profit margin is considerable. “I have no doubt that this achievement is the direct result of how the LMI programmes have helped each person focus. We all work smart but have fun at the same time.”
The management team of F Peart and Co have set the ambitious but achievable goal to increase their turnover and profit by a further 50% in the next three years. Colin commented, “I am certain we will meet our target now that we have the leadership and management skills Neale has helped us realise through the LMI programmes.”
As a result of the high level of success achieved with the programmes, Colin recommended LMI-UK to the MD of F Peart and Co’s sister company, and the Chairman of both companies is due to start an Effective Personal Leadership ® programme shortly.
